My Own Darling,

As you will probably receive this letter before several of my previous ones I had better give you all the news in it.

To begin with – I received your “Air Letter” on March 23rd.  Good going was it not?  I hope this one reaches you as quickly.

I had to send your last letter by ordinary mail – as yet there is no “Air Mail Service”.  However, we are quite lucky in being able to send these and “Air-Graphs”.

It really was grand receiving No. 4.  I too am missing your letters terribly, Darling.  Neither of us must get depressed about things but just keep on thinking that each day that passes brings us one day nearer to the day when we shall see each other again.  I always feel so impatient when I think of that day and it always seems so far away.

By the way – to go back to this Air-Graph system again.  You said that I was lucky in being able to send you more letters than you could send me.  One thing which you do not realise Dear is that I am stuck in the “back of beyond” and as “Airgraphs” have to be given in at a Post Office and that I would not like to give anything in at this building called a Post Office – well – it just means waiting until I can get into Nottingham to send you one.

I will try and get one off to you next week – in fact you might receive it about the same time as this.

I am going home to-morrow, for a half-day and day off.  It is nice to be going home but it does not mean a much to me as it used to and you know why.

What do you think?  I have actually got my photograph – at long last.  Yes!  I agree with you, it is not before time.  It is quite a good one, in fact I honestly think it flatters me.  However, I would like to send it you Darling.  It will not be too big for your pocket.  I am waiting to hear from you again before I send it, just to see if my letters by ordinary mail are getting through alright.

In my last letter by ordinary mail I told you that Eric was now at Gibraltar.  I do hope he manages to get home soon.

Kit and I went to a local “hop” the other night.  Well!  What a do!!!  As usual there were about 6 females to 1 male!  I managed to get a few dances with the local pit lads.  Taking everything into consideration it wasn’t bad.  Not nearly as thrilling as the dances we have been to together though.  To-night, as I am writing this letter our parents will be at the Annual Nursing Association dance.  It brings back many pleasant (to say the least) memories to me and I suppose to you.  Dearest, if only we could be there together to-night or anywhere for that matter as long as we were together.  I realised I would miss you but did not realise it would hurt as it does.  Darling I have not much space left but there is just enough to say how much I love you.  Look after yourself Dear.

Yours, as always, Darling.  Grace.
