G.H.N.                                                                                (104)

3-3-44

My Very Own Darling,

Here we are, in March again.  This year seems to be going quickly, though it cannot go too quickly for me.  I can hardly realise that Eric will have been married 3 years on the 22nd of this month and that the 22nd is your birthday too, Darling.  Yes, time certainly flies though I must admit there are times when it simply crawls along.

The sea letter you wrote me on Christmas day arrived yesterday*.  It just goes to prove that “everything comes to him who waits”.

It was a very lively letter Darling but I suppose that by now you will have almost forgotten what you put in it.

This morning's post brought me a letter from home.  Vera had not much news for me.  They all wish to be remembered to you.

Next week-end I might get home.  It is my week-end off really but in hospital the most unexpected obstacles turn up at the last minute.  However, so far there is no reason why I should not have it so here is hoping.

I hope that the weather conditions out there are improving now.

We have had our share of snow recently but the weather is now much better.  In fact, as I write this the sum is streaming through the window and is quite warm.

Sister goes tomorrow for her week-end – thank goodness.  It will be quite a pleasure to have her out of the way for a short while.

Ivy and I had our half-days yesterday so we decided to go to the “Flying Horse” for tea.  When you come home Darling we really must go there one day.  Yesterday we had afternoon tea at the front of a blazing open fire.  It was really grand.

I like the old-fashioned open fire-places and low, oak beamed rooms, don’t you?

Now, my Dear, before I close I must tell you that I am still loving you and counting the days to your return.  In the distance I can hear somebody’s gramophone playing that old time “Miss you, Darling how I miss you”.  It is very appropriate – nobody know just how much I miss you Darling.  Ever yours, Grace  xxxxxx
