My Very Own Darling,
As you can see I am writing this at home. Before I left Nottm: for my week-end I received a letter from you, making the third air letter from you this week.
It was the first letter you wrote me upon your return from Naples. I am so glad that you enjoyed your leave Darling and that you are feeling better for it.
I suppose you will be wondering why I am at home and not in London where I said I might be going. I did not change my mind until last Wednesday. As it is nearly six weeks since I had my last week-end I was feeling rather tired so I decided that I would like to spend a quiet two days at home.
It was really heavenly staying in bed this morning until ten o-clock instead of hearing a shrill voice say “Six o-clock Nurse.”
I arrived here at seven last night. I decided to put a ‘phone call through to my friend to tell her that I was definitely not going to London so I decided that as I had got as far as the Institute I would walk a bit further and see everybody at 19’.
Your Mother had only been back from Hull a few hours. She said that Mrs Carter and Wendy had been with her.
Last Thursday I was very careless and lost £2-10s out of my hand bag. Luckily the person that found it was honest and I had it returned to me Friday morning. Yes, I think that I must have been born under a lucky star.
However, your Mother decided that I ought to have something to keep my notes in (we nurses get so many, you know) so she has lent me a wallet which you left at home. Do you mind me borrowing it, Darling? I promise you I will take great care of it.
As a matter of fact I got quite a thrill when your Mother lent it to me. It is nice to have something which belongs to you.
How I wish you were here with me this week-end.
All my love Darling. Grace xxxxx
