My Own Darling

I agree with you – this postal system certainly is a nuisance I did not receive your letter until Tuesday afternoon.  Never mind Darling – only two weeks and four days and I shall be with you for nearly a week!  I must tell you how much I am looking forward to it – are you getting excited or are you too busy to think much about it?

The “people in authority” are certainly keeping you busy these days.  I am beginning to think that your job is worse than ours and that is admitting a lot.

I heard from Vera this morning and she said that John and Janet were having three days off and that Janet had been up to see her several times.

My friend “Bunny” has had to go to our Annex which is about 14 miles away so she has left her wireless in my care until she comes back – which will be in three months time.

It is grand having the wireless on until I wish to go to sleep and then to put out my hand and switch it off.  It is making me lazy I suppose but I like being lazy occasionally.  The wireless is just playing “Why Can’t It Happen to Me?”  It” has happened to me!!

I am working on the “Men's accident” ward for five nights.  The two nights I have been on we have been hectic.  Last night we had a very bad laceration of fore-arm which I had to take to the theatre.  It was a very messy job but I think that with care, he will not have to have it amputated.

Anyhow, that is enough about work.

Aren’t I good and patriotic, using both sides of this paper?

I am looking forward to seeing “Gone with the Wind”.  Somehow, I missed it when it was in Nottingham.  With being on night duty I have not been to the pictures for about a fortnight.  I have been too tired to even go to a trade show.

Kit is here telling me to hurry with my letter as she is posting it for me so I guess I had better not write much more.  No more for now Darling – I must get on with the jumper I am knitting as I want to finish it for my nights off.

My love as always, Grace  xxxx
