My Precious Darling,

One more day gone and one day less to wait to seeing you again.  Darling – I cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to those few hours we shall have together.  Even yet I can hardly realise that it is true.

What I also feel pleased about is the fact that we shall spend our short time at home.  I agree with you, it will be much better than meeting in Nottingham and I am sure that it will suit both our parents better.

To-morrow darling  is the 5th – our “Anniversary”.  As I look back along this year I think how much better (Not a very good adjective I am afraid for all that I mean it to convey) it has been than any other year I can remember.  To love and be loved!  I never realised that much happiness could exist.  And I have to thank you for it all.  Yes, I know that I have told you this heaps of times before but every word is true Dear.

Thank you for your birthday wishes and also for my birthday present.

So you think that next Thursday I not find time to “tick you off”.  Darling, it is so sweet of you but you really ought not to send me money.  However, I will put it in the stocking and use it to buy something “I fancy” that we can use at a future date.

I am afraid that my time is very short with Sister being on holiday.  Yesterday was hectic: I did not get any off duty at all and was late for meals.  Not only is Sister away but two nurses have days off to-day.

You sound as if you are having a busy time too.  Never mind Darling, we will both appreciate our time together more.  If that is possible.

By the way – I might get a little earlier than I thought next Wednesday.

Hope you can read this scrawl but it is taking me all my time to hold my pen – my hand is so cold.  We have no fire and the central heat is off.

Yours for ever Dear, Grace  xxxxx
