My Precious Darling,

I received your letter this morning.  I am pleased to say that I have got my day off on Feb 11th.  That means that I shall have a 5 p.m. evening before and with a bit of luck I may get off duty a little earlier and get home Wednesday evening.  Isn’t it marvellous.  I was so thrilled with your letter.  I have hoped and hoped that you might have 48 hrs.  I only wish you had let me know sooner then I could have had my ½ day before but having had one I am quite sure that she will not give me another.  However – we must make the best of it.

The Sisters here are two old maids and they don’t like the idea of any nurse having a boy friend so they will not know my real reason for wanting to get off early.

I had a very nice letter from your Mother this morning.  She said she was disappointed when she did not have a letter from you yesterday.

Won’t every body at home be surprised to hear that we are both managing to get off together?  I can hardly believe that it is true myself.  By the way – when will you be going home, Tuesday or Wednesday?  I shall catch the last bus out of Doncaster Wednesday evening (I hope).

Please excuse the smudgy appearance at the beginning of this letter but the Dr. arrived when I was in the middle of it so I had to fold it rather hastily.

No more this time Dear.  You have all my love.  Grace

Same day  1 hour later

My Darling,

Sister has just disappeared so I am taking the opportunity and writing a bit more.

You wanted to know how the sewing was progressing – very well.  It is still “the cover” but I took out that which you saw me do as I did not like it.

Have you written to your Mother yet?  She said yesterday that she expected a letter Sat: but as one did not arrive she thought there would be one to-day.

Are you very busy these days Dear?  I had to laugh when I read about you taking a little exercise and getting stiff on account of my letter!!!

Really I will not have to write it that is the case!!

It is time I distributed a few medicines so once again – All my love, Grace  xx
