G.H.N.
12-11-43 P.S. Sorry I have forgotten to number some of my letters but I think this is 69.
My Very Own Darling,
Your air-letter dated Oct 27th arrived Wednesday 10th Nov. I could not reply to it before as I went home Wed: evening and did not arrive back until 10 p.m. yesterday. If possible I like to reply to your letters as soon as they arrive.
Thursday morning I went to Lundwood to see Eric, and Bessie and Eric went back to Grimethorpe with me. We arrived back just in time for dinner and in the afternoon I took them both up to 19’ to see your Mother. Eric looks much the same as when he went away. He is hoping that he will not be sent to sea again for some time.
I was very pleased to hear that Janet received two prizes on prize giving day. She is certainly doing very well. I guess that if Janet keeps this up she will go a long way in this world.

I did not finish this yesterday as we were hoping the exam results would be out this morning and I thought that I would let you know the worst (or whatever the result may be). However after we had all whittled ourselves stiff the postman did not arrive with the results after all. Now we shall be kept in suspense for another week.
I received three ordinary letters from you this morning Darling. In them you seem to have been kept waiting for letters. It is dreadful having to wait for letters. They seem to be arriving here more regularly now. Thank goodness! Even the suspense of waiting for exam results is not quite as bad as not receiving your letters.
In your last air-letter you mentioned that you would like to send me some powder but you did not know the shade. Well Darling, if you can get the nearest shade to “Peach” that you can find you will not be far wrong. As regards lipstick – choose a deep red. You see it is always lighter when applied.
And now I really must close as I will never catch the post.
‘Bye Darling and all my love. Yours always, Grace
