My Very Own Darling,

I had another letter from you today, but it was written four or five days before the others I got two days ago.

In it you mention having received my photograph, a thing I asked you about when I wrote two days ago, so ignore what I said in letter 80, will you?  That’s one of the bad points about this long-distance correspondence isn’t it.  Yes I agree it was a rotten photograph.  Still I might get an opportunity of having another taken soon.

Of course I am interested in the things you are collecting in readiness for our home together, my Darling.  I should be a queer fish if I wasn’t, shouldn’t I?  I am quite interested in china however.  I don’t know why, but two of the first things I notice in a house is the china & carpets!  Two of my fads, I suppose, but I hope that when we are married we can rake up enough money from somewhere to get some decent carpets – a high thing to aim for I suppose, especially when one looks at the price of carpets at the moment – yes, even out here I keep my eyes on these things from the newspapers I get!!

Still whatever we manage to gather together, I am certain of one thing Darling and that is that we shall be exceedingly happy, especially if the leaves we spent together 12 months ago are any criterion.  How I am looking forward to the great day.  I keep receiving copies of the local paper from Mother & seeing the wedding reports relating to all my school pals & I must admit I feel a little bit jealous that we are not in a position to follow their example.  Still, I suppose we must find solace in the old saw “Everything comes to those who wait”, but I am afraid this waiting is a heck of a nuisance isn’t it, Dear?  Mother was telling me that she had been to Lilian Foster’s wedding when she wrote to me last.  That girl showed good choice too & married a sergeant in the Signals!!  (Pause for modest flush.)

Well, Darling, I am sitting in bed writing this & as it is beginning to feel a bit chilly so I’ll creep down between the blankets & dream about you for a while.  You fill my thoughts day and night you see.

Keep loving me, Darling, you have all my love.  Yours, Stan  xxxx
