My Own Darling,
This morning’s post brought me another letter from you. It was dated Dec 23rd and in it you told me that you had received the books. I am glad that you like them. I only hope that you find them interesting.
You also said in your letter that you did not want me to do all the dirty work as regards collecting things for our home. I do not consider that collecting things for one’s bottom drawer is dirty work. It gives me a thrill to buy those things and as I am doing these things here I know that you Darling are also doing your share.
Christmas activities are just about over here. We had our dance last night. There was a good band and I think everybody enjoyed it.
There is a party going to-night on one of the wards so I guess I shall wend my way there for a time.
We did get a good many of the patients home for Christmas but we have started filling the beds again.
We have a dramatic society here and they have produced a play by Emlyn Williams called “A Murder has been Arranged”. I have heard that they have put it over quite well but as yet I have not seen it. It is being acted again to-morrow night so if I can drag myself from my bed three hours earlier than usual I will go and see it.
Sorry to hear that the ENSA shows that you have are not up to much. However, as you say, they are better than nothing.
You asked me what life was like here, now that I have my Finals. Well, it is pretty much the same.
Occasionally I catch a glimpse of my reflection in a
glass door and see myself wearing a navy blue belt instead of a white one and
then I wonder if it is really me.
I certainly get a feeling of satisfaction when I have time to think about it at all.
Once again it is time to do various odds and ends and also time for Sister’s round so Bye Darling, until next time – all my love.
Yours Grace
