My Very Own Darling,
Thank you for your cable which arrived this afternoon. I was so pleased to hear that you eventually received mine, though it got to you three weeks later than I intended – that is according to your cable which is dated Feb: 24th. The A.P.O. have a marvellous way of working things at times, don’t they?
However, Darling, the main point is that you have received it which is all that really matters.
It is rather late in the day to start letter writing but if I do not finish this to-night before lights out I will have to finish to-morrow. I intended writing at 8.30 p.m. when I got off duty but two of my friends decided to come to my room and drink tea and have a cigarette and they have just retired to their own rooms so that is the reason for the delay.
How marvellous it will be Darling when we will have no need to send each other cables on anniversaries, etc.
I get a thrill when I think about the day when you will be home again – just to be taken into your arms again Darling, to touch you again and to hear your whisper those thrilling words “I love you”. If I get a thrill thinking about it – well you will not be the only one with Tachycardia that day.

Sorry Dear, I did not get this finished last night. It really must have been later than I thought it was.
Sister has been in a foul mood to-day until about 3 p/m when she received a phone call from the “boy friend”. He is about 40-45 years of age, rather an attractive type of man and a major in the Army. Sister is no chicken!
When the person in authority is not in a pleasant mood it does reflect upon everybody else so consequently to-day has been rather a trying one. When I came off duty at 5 p/m Sister was feeling more amicable so I suppose all is well that ends well.
As I have no more space to bother you with my troubles I will say Au-revoir Dear. Sorry this letter is not newsy.
All my love, my Darling.
Yours, Grace xxxx
