My Very Own Darling,
I was very thrilled to received two air letters from you this morning. I did not receive an air-letter from you at all last week but of course your cable and Christmas letter arrived.
One letter was dated the 18th and the other the 19th of Feb. So, the cable I sent you was delayed because of the address was it? Well, well! This time Darling I hardly think that I was to blame because I did not write the address I printed it. I know that my writing is almost illegible but I think that my printing is at least readable. Also the man behind the Post Office counter read the address out whilst I was there so maybe the A.P.O. had something to do with it after all. Do not think that I am offering an excuse for my scrawl – I am not, I know that it is bad, I am just trying to tell you that I think the telegram left Nottingham as I intended it should. However, I am sorry that it got delayed. I did so want it to arrive on the sixth.
Here we are, nearly at the end of another sixth. Two years and one month! Time marches on! How I wish we could go out for a really good night out together, Darling. Or, on second thoughts, I would not mind an evening – with you, my dear.
May be one day soon we will be able to do just as we want – and together.
In one of your letters you say that you have many plans for the future. Yes Darling, I too have many plans concerning us both. How thrilling it will be when we can start to put them into operation.
The day when you come home will be the day that we really start living again, at the moment the times when I really feel alive are when I receive your letters or am reminiscing – then I re-live the happy times we have had together.
It is now 8 p.m. Darling, the night nurses here and I
will have to give them the day report so Good night and happy dreams. You are always in my dreams.
Ever and all yours, Grace
