My Very Own Darling,

Your sea letter written on April 9th* has arrived.  As usual Darling it was a very long and interesting letter.  I wish I had as much to write to you about.  I am sure you must find my letters awfully dull at times – and when I do find something to tell you – well, I guess they are never enough.

However, Darling, I am always very happy to receive your letters.  Thank you also for the programmes which you enclosed.  I do envy you, you know – seeing all these operas.  You had better not go to too many as you most probably will see them all again at some future date – with me.

I was very interested hearing your views upon the R.C. religion.  I agree with you – the Church has got the people where it wants them.  I think the main object of the R.C. Church is to keep the people in ignorance and poverty so that they do not know any better than to obey anything which is demanded from them.  Also I think that they are taught a great fear of the unknown and should they cross the Church in any way they would be sent straight to “Hell”.

However, as we are a free country and have freedom of religion I suppose they can go their way and I will go mine but that is my view upon the subject.

So you spoke to a girl from Rossington did you?  It was a coincidence that she should come from Doncaster.  I can quite understand how you felt meeting an English girl – especially one from so near your “home town”.  I bet you found a lot to talk about.

I am now awaiting a letter from you telling me whether or not you managed your six days leave.  If you did it will be over by now.  I hope you did.

Did I tell you that I had an invitation to go to London for a week-end?  I should start my week-end a fortnight as yesterday and an Irish girl here has a sister living just outside London.  She is having some of her holiday then and wants me to go down and stay with them.  I am seriously thinking of accepting the invitation.

No more space Darling – so all my love, Grace xxxxxx

 * This will be another of the missing 'sea' letters, as we have no letter written by Stan on 9 April.
