Grimethorpe

My Very Own Darling,
Another month has started which means just one thing to me – yes, I guess it means the same to you – one more month off our period of waiting. My Dear, how I wish it were the last month we were going to be apart. I suppose we will have to spend a few months separated yet. Ah me! such are the trials and tribulations of this life though I realise that we are very lucky really.
Yesterday nothing spectacular happened and it was so cold that I did not go very far from the fire. In fact I spent the greater part of the day sorting feathers. I have been sorting them now for the last few days and still there are not enough to fill a pillow.
However – as long as there are enough by the time you come home it does not matter.
This afternoon the weather had improved a great deal and the sun was shining so I took Vera up to see your Mother. I am afraid that I shall not have to take her again though as she is not too well tonight.
By the way, have I mentioned before that Father has changed his job? He has gone back to the pit and is working at Ferrymoor Colliery.
I am afraid that I have not much news for you my Darling in this letter. You know what an uninteresting place Grimethorpe can be when the one you love is not here by your side. “The other person’s” presence makes all the difference in the world to this place, does it not?
I have not even tried Grimethorpe “Palace”. Remember what happened to us the only time we did decide to go there?
Have I ever told you that there is one person I love very
dearly? Yes, Darling, I know that I have
told you a million times before. How I
wish that you were by my side now to show you just how much I do love you. Forever yours
Grace xxxxxxxx
