My Own Darling,
Your first letter from Sicily arrived yesterday morning, following your cable which arrived Saturday. I replied to your cable last week-end but as I had addressed it to North Africa you will most likely receive this one first.
I really was worried my Dear – I was thrilled to receive your letter. Of course I am always worried about you Darling but your cable set some of my fears at rest. Your letter arrived in nine days so it was good going wasn’t it? It was all very interesting. I love to hear about as many of your adventures as you are able to tell me.
Maybe one day – when we are sitting in our own arm chairs at the front of our own fire – you will tell me all of them. Darling, it seems years since you held me in your arms and told me you loved me. I wonder how much longer we shall have to wait?
Here I am, impatient again. Only three more days and it will be the sixth again – our “anniversary”. The last six months have gone much slower than our first year. I can remember, during our first year, how impatient used to get when we had to wait two or three months before we saw each other. Now, I just have to keep reminding myself that it is no use getting so as you are all doing a grand job of work and I am really proud to think that my boy is one of those helping to rid the world of that parasite – Facism.
I am so glad that you managed to make that journey across to Sicily without any mishap. How did you fare as a sailor this time, were you sea-sick?
Yesterday was my day-off – but I could not answer your letter as I had not an Air-Letter form It was August Bank Holiday Monday too so consequently the post-office was shut. Just my luck!
However, I had a walk round town this morning, bought a stock of Air Letters and spent my last five coupons! I bought some very pretty pale blue material with little dots on. No, I cannot tell you what I am going to make with it in my letter – I will leave you to guess until you come home and can see for yourself. Yes, I have got you guessing a few things, haven’t I?
Never mind Dear – it is good for your brain.
If you have not already received my letters which I wrote whilst on holiday you should do soon. As you can see this is 47 so you should know which you have not received.
Once again it is Au-Revoir Darling. Until my next letter, my love as always. Yours ever, Grace xxxxxxxxx
P.S. I have put my
home address on the other side. I
suppose it is because I have written it so often at home. However you will know to send letters here.
