My Very Own Darling,

I had quite a thrill today when your anniversary cable arrived.  It was a bit late, dear, but it was none the less thrilling to read that you had been thinking so much of me on the 6th.  You are a very kind and thoughtful Darling.

I take my hat off to the Army Post Office.  It was a marvel that the cable ever got here, never mind just 13 days late.  In the process of transmission the address had got changed from “15 L of C Signals” to “15 Docks Sec IE”.  How, I don’t know, but I have my suspicions.  I always said your writing would catch up with you one day!!!

However, it made me feel very happy & put me in a very good mood.  So much so that all the lads in the office wanted to know the secret.  Of course, Darling, they didn’t find out because its “Just between Ourselves”.

Remember the card you sent to me after one of those memorable leaves?  I often get it out and read it.  You have come to mean so much to me Darling, that it is hard to realise that there was any pleasure in life before that happy night when I first found you.  Of one thing I am certain, and that is that even though many miles have always separated us during the past two year except for those brief but divine periods know to this wartime world as leave, I have never been so happy as I have been during the period commencing on that February night in 1942.

It is a comforting thought to know that whatever else may happen in this war, I shall always have you by my side to fight a way through the unsettled world which will be before us after the war.  Together, Darling, I am sure that we shall get our full quota out of life, aren’t you?

I have so many plans for the future (and I am sure you have).  Won’t it be thrilling welding them into one master plan when we are together again?  “Roll on the day when we can start” is my daily prayer.

Well, here I am at the end of yet another letter but there’s still room to tell you that you are the best girl in the world and that I love you with all my heart.

Always yours, Stan   xxxxxx
