My Very Own Darling,

Your letter dated March 11th arrived this morning.  It looked very battered so I don’t know where it had been on its travels.  It was a letter from you Darling so it did not really matter what it looked like.

Yesterday was my half-day so a friend and myself went to the “Flying Horse” for tea.  Yes, we really must go there for dinner some time when you come home.

Pleased to hear your version of how you would like our dining room when – and we shall Dear – we get our own home.  Strange as it may seem our views coincide for once!  I too have dreamed of having a dining room just as you have described it.  The grandfather clock would go well in that type of house, would it not?  Maybe some day we shall have what we want.  I think that we will, don’t you?

I have had a hectic week this week – Sister is on holiday so yours truly has been in charge.  Sister went for the last three days of “take-in”.  She certainly knows when to go for her holiday.  I admitted 29 cases in one week.  Tuesday I went on duty at 7 a/m and got off at 8 p/m having had just one hour off duty, which included my tea half hour.  Such is life!

Yesterday a child on the ward developed Scarlet Fever so the main ward is closed for a fortnight.  There will be no admissions, no discharges and no visiting.  The visitors will be pleased – I don’t think!  I shall have them to contend with tomorrow, who would be a nurse?  It is not a bad life really but it does get me “under the weather” at times.  Here am I – talking shop again.  You know that I love you Darling even though I do write you pages of shop, don’t you?

I will write you again this week end.  All my love, Grace  xxxxxxxxx
