Victory in Rome - 5 June, 1944

 


The above cutting is from the Daily Mirror of 5 June, 1944.   On this day it was announced that American General Mark Clark's Fifth Army had routed the German Army from Rome.   

This news was quickly superseded by the news the following day - 6 June, 1944.
