My Very Own Precious Darling,

I haven’t much fresh to write about, but as I have these snaps to send you, I thought I would spend half an hour writing to you.  I always feel happy, Darling when I am putting my thoughts on paper for you.

The sea has been very rough this last couple of days and so swimming hasn’t been very pleasant, although we had some fun romping about in the rollers.  Some of them were six feet high & picked up the bathers & carried them along to the shore, they were exceptionally powerful.  The roughness of the sea has washed a lot of seaweed into our little cove & when one dives in one comes to the top draped in weeds of all kinds and looking like Father Neptune!

I had a visit to the flicks last night after I had finished writing to you.  For once we had a fairly up-to-date film “The Phantom of the Opera”.  It is a damned good film & I should not miss it if I were you.  The music and singing of Nelson Eddy and Susannah Foster was delightful.

What do you think of the enclosed photograph?  I don’t actually think its quite as good as the one which I sent yesterday.  The bloke with me is the RSM who says that he admires my nerve in sending you a photograph of such a handsome person as himself.  He says, further, that if you should wish to throw me over in his favour you need only say the word.  He’s ready!  (but between you and me I think that’s only because he hasn’t heard from his wife for ten days).

However, Angel, I’ve told him not to build up any hopes, for I am sure you love me & me alone, don’t you?

The war’s going exceptionally well just now Darling, isn’t it?  The Russians are marvellous and there seems to be no stopping them now that they are only 30 miles from Prussia.  Personally the sooner they get into Germany the better.  The war will finish and then we can begin to live instead of having to exist from day to day without each other.

Oh Darling I miss you so much, never a day passes without my hoping & praying that we shall soon be together again.  Only then shall I be happy.  I love you terribly my Precious, as I know you love me.

Always your own, Stan  xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
